An Overview of Gandhian General Philosophy in the Perspective of Peace Education

Abstract

We are living in the digital era but still many civil societies are suffering because of conflicts, violence and war. Peace is the fundamental and most important principle of human being for healthy surviving in this world, otherwise all endeavours of science and technology will be futile. Education is a means for developing peace. We cannot imagine the true education without peace and harmony. Universal human values, peace, harmony cannot be preached without quality education. And quality education can never be achieved until or unless it inculcates culture of peace and value of prosperous life. Gandhi fought against all kind of social evils throughout his life with the weapon of non-violence and truth in order to promote peace and harmony over the world not only for Indian nation. Mahatma Gandhi’s life is a great message for us how to treat our life in a peaceful way. He preached and nurtured non-violence as a weapon to deal with all social evils. Truth and non-violence are the both sides of same coin he used everywhere throughout his life. So, this paper is an attempt to highlight the action-proof approach of Gandhian philosophy in the social context that transformed peace lessness to peace and violence to non-violence.
