Abstract

The project explores the value that environmental graphic design can create a connectivity within communities and different age groups in Tehran City as a representative of Iran. In a segregated city, there is an opportunity to use environmental graphic design elements to help improve the perceptions of a divided community, and thereby reconnect it to the greater city population. Due to the social change appearing in societies, youth's aspirations are ever changing. The art of graphic design could bridge between the newly built-environment and the values of the youth. The present project investigates the attitudes of the youth towards a healthy environment. As cities are filled with signals (products of graphic design), that help inform communication between the environment and those who interact with it, there would be a number of services that graphic design  provides contributing to the overall perceptions of youth in a neighborhood. In the present survey, some 419 youth were interviewed through questionnaires, and the result of which are reflected in the text in abridged form.
